Mud Face

Boo!

Did my face scare you? Well, scared me for sure! Thought I would show you guys what I look like while I work on these next few blog posts.

Sarah and I went to UTC this evening. I didn't buy as much as usual though. Got a handful of candy from the Sweet Factory, a mud mask, a headband, and a sports bra type thing. I think I spent less than $20 today. Not bad for me! Oh also got a few other items not pictured.

Now off to writing my other long over due posts for y'all! (while my face gets tighter)

Also two of my suite-mates and their friend made this yummy lookn food in celebration of Lunar New Year!

A Whole Chicken?!?!

Hi guys,

I went to the beach the other day with Bob and Sarah, but I have a bit of work to do so that blog will come at a later date. I will say that after the beach Bob and I felt the need to try to moisturize our feets. Not sure where, but I learned about mixing olive oil with lotion to help moisturize. We didn't have plastic wrap so she used the trash bags and I used the grocery bags. Ain't we fancy? Bob wanted to only wear em for 10 minutes, but we got caught up watching YouTube videos. Watched videos for probably 20 minutes!!

Remember the day when my brother came to UCSD? My mom gave me a daffodil plant. She knows they are one of my favorite flowers! When I received the plant it was 4-5 inches shorter and none of the flowers were bloomed. Look at it now! I just have to keep remembering to water it twice a week lol

When I used to live at home I would have chicken maybe 5 times a week. Here I have chicken not that often . . . I have kind of been on the verge of a vegetarian. I didn't notice! So I have been getting a bit too excited when I see chicken at the dinning halls. Was doing my homework earlier and thought I could use some chicken. Sad thing is that I realized it was "Meatless Monday" at the dinning hall :( Sarah and I stopped by the market and I got a whole chicken!

Got back to the dorm, laid out a trash bag on the table, and go to work. No, I didn't eat it all! I used a plastic knife to cut up my chicken. Don't doubt the power of the plastic knife! (When I was little a plastic knife attacked me! Jk! I actually cut myself with it . . . ) After however many minutes of hard work this is my container of chicken. Purty right? I devoured a third of the chicken along with some cucumbers with sweet chili sauce for dinner. Oh and a chocolate almond milk! (This time I went to buy it so I didn't end up with another Hershey's bar. Thanks Bob.)

Back to work now!

Salted Caramel Macarons!

Hey there!

Remember my friend from the Balboa Park & Whitney Cummings post? He invited me over to his place so Bob and I went yesterday! The original plan was to finish class at 1, meet him at my dorm, catch the shuttle to the bus, and the bus to UTC to meet Bob. What ended up happening was me going to some girl's house to look at clothes, met him at my dorm, ate lunch, and realized I forgot to tell Bob the change in my plans! Sarah saw us sitting in the common room and said Bob was on her way to UTC. I panicked and she called Bob 11 times before she picked up. Thank goodness she picked up. Bob waited at the bookstore for us. We met up and made our way to UTC where I stopped for a potty break and Bob got her Starbucks. Then we took the long ride to his house; seriously it was like an hour! Fun bus ride, if you disregard the carsickness and my bladder reminding me I had to pee again!

I told him in advance to get the ingredients so we could bake macarons, but did he? Nope! He went to the store and forgot the ingredients for the cookies! Yet he got what HE needed. Typical guy right?! Since we needed the ingredients before we could start to make the cookies he rode off on his bike to buy em. While he was gone Bob and I hid some money (which as of this post he still has yet to find) in his house to make up for him paying for Bob's bus ticket. There's the kitchen counter area with the ingredients along with his ipad showing CookWithApril tutorial!

In the email I sent him I listed the ingredients AND the links to the videos. Turns out he didn't even watch the videos! He didn't have the sifter for the flour and powdered sugar. At first he used a colander, then realized it wasn't working very well he cleaned a screen he had in the closet in hopes that it would work better. In the meantime Bob and I watched Family Feud and Law & Order!
While he was trying to sift the two ingredients, I had already made the salted caramel sauce!Didn't have any of the fancy pipping bags, so I used what I always use. Ziplock baggies! Not bad right? I tried to make them all similar in siz
e and shape.
This is us trying to share the kitchen space. I was probably dealing with the batter while he was cleaning off some of the dishes I made. While the first batch of cookies were baking Bob decided she would make mole for us to eat. Did he have mole sauce? Nope, so off to the store he went again! Bob tried to give him money for the mole sauce, but he wouldn't take it. Guess what we did?! Yup, we hid $5! He found that though. Bob and I told him where we hid it since the places his mom suggested weren't the right ones.

Oh, we also watched a movie! Remember the movie What To Expect When You're Expecting? Came out a long time ago, but I still had yet to see it so that's what we watched. I enjoyed it! I mean I did tear up like four times during the movie. Y'all know how I cry at almost every movie! I recommend this movie to my mom and my sister!

Here's the final product (not all of them are pictured)! I will admit that the first batch, the green ones, were on the crunchy side. It was my first time so gimme a break! The second batch, the blue ones, turned out to be perfect! I mean, after I took em out too early and then shoved em back in after the last batch. The last batch, the "Baja Desert" ones, turned out to be less crunchy than the first but not nice like the second. Made the cute little sandwiches with the salted caramel sauce in the middle! Looking at them now I kinda think they look like pretty patties from Spongebob.

Bob and I left his house after 1 am lol He sent us home in a cab. Funny thing is that I didn't know the exact address lol Good thing Bob knew! Got back to campus at 1:55 and finally back to the dorm at 2:00 cuz we walked from a parking structure . . . yeah we are a weird pair! Overall it was a relaxing day full of silly moments, a LOT of laughing!!

Random Happiness?!!?!?

Hi friends!

I got up at 7 today, out of bed at 7:20 though. Ate with Bob, did some homework back at the dorm, went to my three classes, did some homework in the language lab, got my yummyful lunch and now I'm here with y'all!

Lately I have been going to the gym and trying to eat healthy! This is the deliciouso lunch I had. Some sort of lemon parsley sumthn chicken from Pines, raspberries, apple, and a mix of cucumber, carrot, and tofu! Oh I also had some peanut butta along with my mini apple! What a lunch lol

I was too lazy to do laundry on the weekend so I have to do laundry after this post or else I won't have socks for the gym later tonight!! Yep, Sarah and I are gyming it tonight! Did 2 miles on the tredmill the other day, so I am going to try to do 4. I have no clue how many or under what time I should be going at, but at least it's a start right?

I know what y'all are thinking! "How come she always writes about food?"

Worship The Lord Song

Hey there,

Real quick wanted to put up these lyrics since my instructor just posted them online! If you're confused bout this post just wait till this weekend when I have to explain. Enjoy!

Worship the Lord, and praise His holy name
Worship the Lord, and magnify His name
(repeat)
Make a joyful noise, all ye people
Sing a song to the Lord
Of His goodness, of His mercy
Sing a song to the Lord
Ten:   King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, Hallelujah!
A/T/B:  Forever and ever, Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
DON'T WAIT TIL THE BATTLE IS OVER
Don't wait til the battle is over, shout now
You know in the end, you're gonna win
(repeat)
When the battle's over (3x's)
We're going home (back to top)
When the battle's over (3x"s)
We're going home, HALLELUJAH
LORD, WE LOVE YOU
T/B:   O Lord, we're standing in Your presence
S/A:   With You by our side
T/B:   We lift our hands in holy reverence
S/A:   We bask in Your light
T/B:    And we sing ...
ALL:    Praises to You, for all that You do, Lord, we love You
KING JESUS IS A LISTENIN'
King Jesus is a listenin' when you pray
King Jesus is a listenin' when you pray - eee
Waiting to hear You, comfort and cheer you
King Jesus is listenin' when you pray, when you pray
If I hold my peace, my Jesus will be coming for me one day
King Jesus is a listenin' when you pray
He's got power in His hands, and He's taking me away
King Jesus is a listenin' when you pray
O-O-O-Oh, King Jesus is a listenin'
O-O-O-Oh, listenin' when you pray
He's got power in His hands, and He's taking me away
King Jesus is a listenin' when you pray

Sibling Day 2014

Hey there!

Guess who came to visit me at school today?? Well the title kind of gives it away, huh? My brother decided to come for Sibling day at UCSD. Of course my parents were here too (kinda), cuz they had to drive. Sooo if you know how I am, I am NOT into the whole activity planned day thing. UCSD had a whole schedule for us. I thought they would get here at 9 so I set my alarm for 8:28. Turns out my mom said they would be here at 8:30-9:00. I got outa bed and got almost all the way ready when my brother called saying they were standing outside the suite.

We had our parents drop us off near the Peterson stop and we walked to the Student Services Center for check-in. Put on the shirts, grabbed some grub, went potty, and off to Fallen Star we went. Got there early, first ones there! Took us a total of like three mins to see Fallen Star. Glad we got there early because look at the line when we left!

Technically they gave us an hour for the Fallen Star visit, so we had 50 minutes to spare. Took my brother to the library so he could see the "amazing" view, Goodies so he could see a market and get a burrito, the HSS roof so he could see the view and meet Avery, and finally back to the dorm. By that time we only had enough time to drop stuff off at the dorm then hop on the shuttle back to where we started. Session two we made super balls! I made mine all colorful, but my brother  was all like I don't like the colorful kind. So his turned out to be just neon pink! (Don't tell him, but I think his turned out better than mine . . . )

Finished that with time to spare too, so we went to Price Center and ate a snack of pork buns. My brother always has issues when food is hot. The buns were steaming and he kept trying to touch it lol

Went back to Warren to see the big bear. Also went to the bookstore. Then break for lunch at Sun God. We didn't want to sit with all the other families so we found a place on the way to York. UCSD planned for us to do a scavenger hunt so we went back to Sun God and got a passport and list of clues. I'm sure you can guess that we had already been to most of the places. We ended up doing almost all of it over again to get our stickers!

Ended up at BHong's place. Chilled there for a while. Like having two brothers with me at the same time! Eventually caught the shuttle to get back to point A for the raffle. They tricked us! Made us sit and make a blanket while doing the raffle every 15 mins or so. My brother wanted to listen to the talking tree, but it didn't talk to him. Luckily, we heard the singing tree and ran over to it!

Back to the dorm to grab our burritos and off we went to the cliffs for the sunset. Parents went with Bob and her friends so my brother and I sat in the dorm. He was playing with his iPhone and I was on my computer. I realized I forgot to take him to the gym so we went to play racquetball at the gym! It was loads of fun! Like handball mixed with tennis mixed with ping pong? I think this was our favorite part of the day because we got to be loud and silly like old times.

All in all it was a fantastic day full of sibling bonding. Maybe next time I will take him the big red chair and stone hedge. Love you big little bro.

Update: Now number 1 on Chem wait list and still 2 on Math

"Dip Die"

Afternoon,

I decided to do my hair before the schooling started up again. I had a bit of trouble bleaching my hair so after I attempted I asked Dory for help. Wore a trash bag so my shirt wouldn't get ruined. Isn't it a great look?

I have never bleached this much of my hair before so I found it odd to see so much orangey brown hair. Took me hours to complete the whole process, but I think it paid off. Hard to tell, but my hair is now black with purple and teal!

Got new clothes over break like em? The shoes I thought would be more comfy than regular flats, which they are, but I still ended up with a blister on my left ankle. Guess I am wearing my slippers to class tonight!

Secret Santa . . . Or NOT!

Morning again,

Soooo before the break we, Sarah, Biggie, Dory, Bob, Leel, and I drew names for Secret Santa. Leel and Biggie thought they had it all figured out, but PSYCH y'all got tricked! Dory switched with Leel. Dory had me, Bob had Dory, I had Sarah, Sarah had Bob, so if you figure that out, Leel and Biggie had each other. Don't our four gifts look festive(ish)?

I can say that we all are happy with our gifts. I got those yummy chocolate balls called Ferrero Rocher. Who else eats them in layers? Wait, nobody else? *slowly lower my hand* The necklace I gave Sarah was so spot on. So Sarah!

Well I am going to hit the sack, hopefully my shoulders don't hurt as bad when I get up. Must face more classes tomorrow O.O

Pieology!

Hi friends,

On January 2nd SJ and I decided to go to Pieology. Well before that I had to go to see the doctor. I still have my cough that started around my Sick vs Allergies blog post. I really truly enjoyed going to the doctor. The nurse was very nice and we had a lovely conversation about how teens want gift cards instead of actual items. Told her we like em better because they are easy to put away lol and we can choose what and when we want to buy with them! Then I saw the doctor and she was so down to Earth, or Earf as Sarah would say. We just sat there and talked about random things. She told me how I should build up my immunity too. Oh and I forgot to mention that the receptionist gave me one of those blue masks with the elastic because I was coughing lol

So then I got home and SJ and I went out to eat at Pieology in Chino. The line was out the door! I mean we did go at prime dinner time plus it is still kind of new. We waited in line and read some of the quotes on the wall. It took me so long to figure out what I wanted on my pizza! Finally decided on mozzarella, parmesan, pepperoni, pineapple, tomato, and bacon! I don't remember exactly, but SJ got jalepenos, tomato, parmesan, mozzarella, etc. The lady over loaded on the mozzarella!! I hate when pizza has too much cheese. I just don't like it . . . Then when I asked her to put parmesan on she put like a little tiny sprinkle. You guys know how much parmesan cheese I usually put, so I asked for more. She did another little sprinkle and I nodded for her to add more. I had to nod like four more times lol Then when SJ asked for parmesan she asked if he wanted extra extra parmesan cheese too. I can't help my love for parmesan cheese!!

Doesn't that look yummyful? Of course after taking the pix I added a whole bunch of parmesan cheese!! No shame you guys! I ate a little more than half too! Oh while we waited outside for our pizza to be done I spotted a sign in a window that said boba! So SJ asked if I wanted boba. Of course I said yes! He paid for our boba and I paid for pizza. I got my usual mango boba and he got milk tea kind. I am not fond of milk tea kind, but I always seem to take a few sips of his. It's like how Tom and Hannah always get their different cakes but then end up stealing the other's (talking bout Made of Honor).

To finish off the day we made key lime pie! He let me do the zesting. The smell got to me a bit though. Made me cough more than I already was! I had fun though. Maybe I just enjoy making foods! This is the final result. The pie crust was a bit large so the filling doesn't go super high, but that's fine because I like having extra crust to offset the filling.

PS I wanted to upload a video but the lovely wifi here is preventing that from happening!

Sleepover At G&G's

Morning,

This is many days late, but my brother and I slept over at our grandparent's house! We used to do it more often when we were younger. My brother and my grandpa golfed both days while my grandma cooked dinner while I kept her company in the kitchen. You know how grandparents like to feed their grandchildren? Well my grandma is that type. She is always asking if we have had enough to eat, and will try to feed us more when we say we are full!

The first night my grandma made Captain Crunch chicken, one of our favorites! Didn't take a picture, but she made the chicken, asparagus, salad, sweet beans, etc. Second night my grandma made salmon teryaki, broccoli, asparagus, salad, sweet beans, and musubi. Guess who made that beautifully shaped musubi on the plate! I couldn't believe mine came out looking like that. What you guys don't know is that by the time I was almost done making my one musubi, my grandma had made two and a half.

My brother and I played a game of Scrabble. More like we played our own game of Scrabble! If you know me, you will know that my vocabulary word bank isn't that impressive. So games like Scrabble are challenging for me. Don't really like to play this game, but my brother said we could make up words, but that was toward the end of the game. We spelled words to make them sound like real words. For example, "EZ" is easy, "ROF" is rough, "ALLBO" can be elbow, etc. My brother spelled "POXT" and claimed it worked because when you get the chicken pox you have been poxt lol don't ask me where he learns these things. My grandma came over and after a quick glance told us we were doing it wrong. She asked us what "MII" meant. My brother pointed at the wii and said it's the people on the wii! >.< My brother and I can be so silly at times!

In the morning we all went to Carrow's to grab some grub. I am not a huge breakfast fan, but look at what I got! Bacon, egg whites, potatoes, and a blueberry muffin! I ate everything but half the muffin and half the eggs. See the pancakes in the corner? Those were my brother's and guess who ate half of one of those big pancakes! Hard to believe, but yes I did! I think breakfast potatoes are one of my favorite foods. They have to be a little crisp though and seasoned well. I may even choose em over bacon :O ikr??

We had a blast at our grandparent's house. Hopefully we get to do it again in the near future!

New Year's Day

Evening,

A little late, but Happy New Year everyone!!!

Do you guys have traditions for New Year's day? My family usually goes to my grandparent's house for the whole day. My grandma cooks all sorts of yummy foods for us! This is some of the foods she had ready for us when we arrived. I ate sweet chestnut paste, egg, fancy kamaboko, red bean and green tea yokan, special triangle shaped spam musubi, what I think was sweet egg, and sticky potato! It's not shown in the picture, but I had like six spam musubi. They were just so yummy!

My family eats the traditional soup with mochi, but being the picky eater I am, I just eat the mochi. My aunt toasts me mochi every year! It would be plain on its own so I dip it in soy sauce and sugar. Usually the mochi is still in its perfect stone shape, but I requested extra toasty kind. This is the result. Don't they look like huge popcorns?!? They were actually hollow inside too! So delightfully delicious! Guess this is my tradition!

While things die down at the house me, my two aunts, cousin, and mom headed off to the mall. Got some more leggings and long sleeve shirts. Something about adding long sleeve shirts to my wardrobe makes me so proud! Grandma told us to be back by dinner which was at 6. We lost track of time at the mall and ended up leaving shortly after 5:30! Got back in time for dinner though. Everyone, but me of course, ate sukiyaki for dinner. I honestly don't know what I eat for dinner every New Year's. My grandma was worried I wouldn't have food for dinner, but I told her not to make me anything special because she already had enough to do. I told her I would find something to eat. Oh yea, for those of you that aren't familiar with sukiyaki, it is photographed above. Consists of noodles, meat, tofu, mushrooms, veggies, etc.

I grabbed some of the cold noodles and tofu for dinner. Before we left in the morning to get to their house I got an Uncrustable from the freezer thinking I would eat it on the way. Glad I grabbed it because it was part of my dinner! I also had different types of tsukemono. The purple and yellow tsukemono were from the store, but the cucumber one was homemade! My grandpa doesn't help with any of the cooking so he sounded very proud to tell me how he cut the cucumber for my grandma to marinade lol Had gohan to accompany my tsukemono. (Pssst gohan is rice!) One more piece of fancy kamaboko, and one homemade "football." (I don't remember the real name, but my sister knows exactly what I am talking about!)

Every year my aunt buys beautiful manju for us to indulge in. Aren't they prettyful?? I had the pink flower maju. It is very hard to describe what it was, but I can say there was anko (red bean) inside! You see that there are two of them right? Well there were leftovers so my aunt let me take the other flower too!!

I could feel my mouth watering from looking at all the food pictures! Can't wait till next New Year's!!

New Year's Eve

Hi there,

So we seemed to have jumped from Christmas right to New Year huh? This NYE was different than the previous ones. Usually my family stays home or goes to see a movie, orders in food, and watches the ball drop. My brother went to his girlfriend's house, my dad worked, mom stayed home with the doggie, and I went to see VW then SJ later in the evening.

College just makes the holidays feel so different. To be honest NYE felt like any other day to me. Nothing special. Tell me about what you guys did in the comments! Maybe it was more festive than my NYE.
